What is a Body Lift?
A body lift is a specialized form of post-weight-loss body-contouring that addresses sagging skin and uneven contours across multiple areas at once. A lower body lift in Chicago targets the abdomen, flanks (also known as love handles), outer thighs, buttocks, and lower back. This 360-degree approach allows the surgeon to smooth, lift, and tighten the midsection while improving overall body proportions.
In some cases, an upper body lift may also be performed. This can address excess skin in the upper arms, chest, back, and breasts, areas that often have significant laxity after a significant weight loss.
It’s important to note that a body lift is different from liposuction or a tummy tuck. While liposuction removes fat, it does not address skin laxity. A tummy tuck primarily focuses on the front of the abdomen, tightening muscles and removing excess skin. At the same time, a body lift removes excess skin around the waist, hips, and thighs. This skin removal surgery is one of the most powerful surgical options available for patients with post-weight-loss skin sagging.
