Labiaplasty – Post Surgery
We continue our education series this week discussing labiaplasty (vaginal cosmetic plastic surgery) and specifically the healing and post operation process. We believe labiaplasty can improve your sex life, boost your self-esteem and self-confidence and is a safe procedure that Dr. Casas has performed many times over her 20+ year career as a cosmetic plastic surgeon. Please visit our informational pages on labiaplasty, labiaplasty photos and a patient experience with labiaplasty.
We encourage you to take advantage of our expertise in the labiaplasty procedure by setting up an appointment (847-657-6884).
Question:
What is the normal healing process after labiaplasty, and how will my surgeon follow up with me? What complications should I be concerned about?
Answer:
I consider excellent pre- and post-operative care to be just as important as the procedure itself. In my practice, patients come to my office 2-3 days after surgery for their first follow-up appointment. We then see each other at 7-10 days, 3-4 weeks, 6-8 weeks, and 3 months post operation. These follow-up appointments allow me to ensure that proper healing is taking place.
Following labiaplasty, it’s not unusual for patients to develop bumps near the incision lines. These bumps will often improve with time. If they are bothersome or unsightly, gentle massage beginning 2-4 weeks after the procedure can help soften scar tissue. If you notice any drainage near the suture lines, or if any part of the incision reopens, you should let your surgeon know.
