If you are bothered by the sagging or aging appearance of your brow, a minimal incision brow lift may be the ideal procedure for you. A minimal incision brow lift can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and rejuvenate the appearance of the brow through the use of small incisions and an endoscope. At Casas Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we have provided numerous patients with amazing results from their minimal incision brow lift in Chicago.
Good Candidates for a Minimal Incision Brow Lift
A candidate for a forehead lift may appear tired or sad due to sagging eyebrows, horizontal lines across the forehead, or frown lines between the eyebrows.
During the initial consultation, Dr. Casas may ask you to point out exactly what you would like to see improved. Dr. Casas will closely examine your entire face, noting muscle activity, position of your eyebrows, amount of skin, and height of your hairline. Together, you will discuss the proper surgical or non-surgical procedure to achieve your desired result. Botox® can often be used for mild sagging of the eyebrows. In many patients, this can achieve a “non-surgical” brow lift.
Minimal Incision Brow Lift Techniques
Dr. Casas employs two main techniques during a forehead lift procedure to reduce wrinkling and frown lines, to remove excess skin, and to lift your eyebrows. One technique uses an incision that is hidden in the hairline or toward the middle of the scalp to virtually eliminate visible scars. Dr. Casas uses an endoscope in the other technique, inserted through several tiny incisions in the scalp, but it is not appropriate for every patient.
Recovering from Your Minimal Incision Brow Lift
Any protective head bandages are usually removed two or three days after surgery. Stitches will be removed within a couple of weeks. Recovery is a gradual process, and swelling and bruising are typically resolved within a few weeks. It is normal to experience temporary numbness and some itching of the scalp as nerves heal.
After surgery, you should avoid straining, bending, and lifting, which all increase blood pressure to your head. You will be able to resume most of your normal activities in two weeks or less, but Dr. Casas will ask you to wait several weeks before resuming strenuous exercise.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, administered by massage, is used after each procedure to reduce swelling. The number of sessions is individualized. It is important that patients follow a healthy lifestyle leading up to and following procedures, including non-smoking, a healthy diet, and daily vitamins. Click here to learn more.
