We are thrilled to announce that our very own Dr. Laurie Casas has been recognized as one of the Exceptional Women in Medicine by Castle Connolly for 2024! This prestigious award acknowledges female Castle Connolly Top Doctors across the United States who have demonstrated remarkable leadership, expertise, and dedication in their respective fields.

With over 8,300 doctors represented across 77 different specialties and all 50 states, this year’s list truly highlights the outstanding achievements of women in medicine. The selection process for the Exceptional Women in Medicine list is rigorous, involving peer nominations, extensive research, and evaluation by the Castle Connolly research team. In addition to meeting the requirements to be selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, these exceptional physicians have displayed additional qualifications, including research and academic contributions, volunteer work within healthcare, training at top institutions, and innovations in their field of specialty.

The recognition of exceptional women in medicine is particularly significant in light of the historical underrepresentation of women in the medical field. Despite progress, women still make up only 38% of physicians in the United States, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation. By celebrating and elevating the achievements of women like Dr. Casas, we hope to inspire more women to enter the medical profession and advocate for greater representation in historically male-dominated specialties and leadership roles.
